CLAYTON SUYDAM

Head Coach, Girl's Soccer

Clayton Suydam took over as the head coach for the Manheim Township High School girls soccer program in 2025. Prior to that, Coach Clayton was an assistant coach with the program for 8 seasons, helping the team to an overall W-L-T record of 151-23-4, six LL league championships and two District 3 championships. In his first year leading the program in 2025, the team was able to continue its historical success with an overall W-L-T record of 21-3-0, winning the LL league championship and the District 3 championship, the fourth in program history.

Clubs and Certifications

In addition to his involvement in high school soccer, Coach Clayton has been coaching girls’ club soccer in Lancaster County for the past 20 years. Over the years, Coach Clayton has coached at Manheim Township Soccer Club, Penn Legacy, Penn FC and most recently at PA Classics. Many of those years were spent coaching teams that his daughters played on. What started out as a father supporting his children has turned into a lifelong pursuit of teaching young women about soccer and life and continues now even after his children have grown up and moved on.

Personal Life

Coach Clayton and his wife, Renee, have lived in Township for the past 20 years. They have three daughters, Aubrey, Liza and Ella, all of whom attended Manheim Township. Their oldest two, Aubrey and Liza, each played four years on the high school varsity soccer team before going on to have successful D1 collegiate playing careers. Aubrey played three seasons (2017-2019) at St. Francis (PA), missing her senior season because of the covid shutdowns. Liza played two seasons at Monmouth University (2023-2024) before transferring to Louisville (2025-). Ella is incredibly gifted in both music and art and has far more interesting outlets for her competitive spirit with her involvement in the Township Performing Arts’ Plays and Musicals throughout her high school career. Ella will graduate from Township in 2026.
